CCP: “What do I do first?!” Part 2

Happy Labor Day all! What are your plans for today? I am at Noni’s house right now combining homework time with visit time. Aunt Emily is here for a couple of days! Yay! We will watch the OSU vs. Virginia Tech game tonight. (Go Bucks!) I just wish that it wasn’t so hot. Three plus 90 degree days in a row is not my kind of weather:) Blah!!

A little piece of exciting news…I met with my college’s career counselor on Friday. She helped me sort through my thoughts on how to proceed right now in getting closer to my goals. She is very used to working with students headed towards the medical field which is a bonus.

Now onto the Part 2:) I will try to explain how I organize individual days.

Ok. In my planner, for each month, I have 1 page that shows the month in a normal calendar view (This is where, from part 1, I fill in my assignments in different colors for each class.) and several pages that show the individual weeks. The week pages have a box for each day with lines that I write my ‘To-Do’ list on.

At the beginning of each week, I grab my phone and look at my calendar for that week. I write down all the things I have to do outside of school. Then I look at my calendar in my planner and schedule when I am going to get those school assignments done.

For example, if I have a Chemistry assignment due on Thursday, I will write in to do that assignment on Monday or Tuesday. That way, I have plenty of time to get it done and ask any questions.

It is also a good idea to look ahead a few weeks on your assignment calendar. If you have a paper due that month, you should give yourself enough time to plan it, write it, proof it, and fix it.

When school first started, I got nervous a lot because I thought I might be missing a class since I didn’t know my schedule yet. I took sticky notes and wrote down my classes and times of classes for each day and put them on my weekly planner. At the beginning of a new week, I move them over to the new page. This way I can look at the sticky note and make sure that I went to every class and will be going to every class.

Here is a two-day sample of what my weekly planner looks like. The asterisk is what I had in my phone calendar that day.

My days aren’t that full yet because it is only Monday, but throughout the week, I continue to fill in each day. Usually I don’t have enough room in each box by the end of the week:)

That is just a little bit of how I have gotten myself organized. If you know me, I have to stay extremely organized to get anything done:) I just hope that I can keep organized as the year goes on.

Have a great Labor Day!
